A Few Thoughts On Kerry Livgren’s Latest Album Q.A.R.

In late 2022 Kerry Livgren released his latest solo album. The album, titled Q.A.R., is pure Livgren. That said, it is a diverse album that sees Livgren exploring progressive rock, classic rock, AOR, bluesy rock and rock ballads. Fans who have heard Livgren’s previous albums will know what to expect. For those who have not heard any of Livgren’s solo work, Q.A.R. is a great introduction to his post-Kansas music. Here are a few thoughts on the album.

Livgren put together a fantastic roster of guest musicians and vocalists. The roster includes Kansas alumnus John Elefante, Steve Morse, the late Robbie Steinhardt and Warren Ham. Ham performed on one tour with Kansas and was also a member of Livgren’s first post-Kansas band A.D. Additional guests include a few members from Livgren’s band Proto-Kaw, formed in the early 2000’s.
